| It is finally time
to say goodbye to the Sof Sole Motion Control Full Length Arch
Support. The item was actually discontinued by Sof Sole over
a year ago. We stocked it for as long as possible but the well
has run dry we are finally running out of stock. We have several
recommendations for alternative products listed below. |

Spenco
Full Length ThinSole Orthotic Arch Support:
This is not a Sof Sole product but it is really similar in most
respects to the Full Length Motion Control. The Spenco ThinSole
arch support shell is made from a graphite/fiberglass compound
that is thin and light and has similar height and shape to the
Motion Control shell. Also, the 1/16th inch top cover is full
length so it gives the same continuity of fit as the Full Length
Motion Control. |

The Sof
Sole Motion Control ¾ length plus a Sof
Sole Flat Cushion insole ($4.95) to put on top of the ¾
length arch support. Remove the shoe’s existing insole,
put the ¾ Length Motion Control in first and then cover
it with the flat cushion insole. |

Sof Sole Graphite
Orthotic Arch Supports. Similar support as the Motion Control
but a considerably thicker top cover. It will take up more room
in your shoe than the Motion Control and may change the fit. |

SOF~SOLE Motion
Control arch supports are made from a proprietary composite
shell called Implex®. Implex® is similar to a fiberglass
composite but it is even stronger and more rigid. The Implex®
shell is ultra thin yet strong. It fits discretely into athletic
and casual walking shoes and provides long lasting support.
While the arch on the Motion control arch support is semi-rigid
it is not very high so it is ideal for people with medium to
low arches that have found other hard arch supports to be too
high and uncomfortable.
The semi rigid composite shell of Implex is covered with a cushion
layer of IMPLUS. Together the two layers measure to just over
1/8th of an inch thick. |

IMPLUS
is a resilient rubber like material that is filled with tiny
bubble chambers. IMPLUS is an “Open Cell” foam which
means that each tiny bubble chamber is interconnected to the
bubbles around it. This “Open Cell” structure makes
SOF SOLE cushion insoles unusually shock absorbent for such
a thin dense insole. A similar insole that used a “Closed
Cell” structure where the bubble chambers were not interconnected
would feel much harder then a SOF SOLE cushion insole. Also
the “Open Cell” structure used in the SOF SOLE cushion
insole means that the insoles are porous and that they breathe.
With every step, air flows through the insole wicking away perspiration. |

that are having trouble adjusting to either a new pair of custom
made orthotics or a new pair of serious over-the-counter arch
supports such as the Flexifly arch support, the SOF~SOLE Motion
Control arch supports is an ideal 'Break-In" arch support.
A "Break-In" arch support is an arch support of moderate
to low height and rigidity that is used to help people adjust
to the sensation of wearing an arch support. A break-in arch
support still supports the arch and controls over-pronation
but just not as much as the primary arch support; consequently,
it feels more comfortable then the primary arch support and
allows the foot to slowly adjust to its new corrected position. |
