The Low Arch Rx Sorbo
Ultra Orthotic Arch Supports from Sorbothane have a very similar design
to the Sof Sole Graphite Orthotic Arch Support and since Sof Sole
has discontinued that product this product makes for a perfect (if
not better) replacement. The Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic Arch Supports
from Sorbothane have three key components in their construction. They
have an arch support shell which is covered by a dual density foam
cushion layer that consists of a closed cell polyurethane layer and
an open celled Poron layer. In additiona they have the specialized
Sorbothane gel in the ball of the foot and the heel.

| The red and black arch
support shell of the Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic Arch Support is made
from a composite of fiberglass and graphite. The arch support shell
is semi rigid, about 1/16th of an inch thick and is only slightly
more rigid than the shell used in the Sof Sole Graphite Orthotic Arch
Support. Its non weight bearing height is about ½ inch an inch
high and is almost exactly the same height and shape as the shell
used in the Sof Sole Graphite Orthotic Arch Support |

The cushion cover (orange)
of the Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic Arch Supports from Sorbothane is made
from a closed cell polyurethane based foam. Since the foam is closed
cell, it is resilient and has a strong rebound factor that resists
compression. This makes it a very durable and long lasting cushioning
footbed. As if that wasn’t enough, Sorbothane added an additional
layer of Poron foam (blue) on top of the orange polyurethane foam.
Poron foam is an open celled foam which means that air can flow through
it so while it provides additional cushioning it also wicks moisture
away from the feet (helping to keep them dry). The Poron layer is
toped off with a thin antimicrobial nylon sport weave which helps
to reduce friction and heat build up, especially during rigorous activities.

| What
makes the Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic Arch Supports from Sorbothane
unique is the Sorbothane gel plugs in the heel and the ball
of the foot. Sorbothane gel is a highly specialized visco elastic
polymer (cushioning material) that can absorb up to 94.7% of
impact shock. Sorbothane places these plugs at the ball of the
foot and the heel because these are the areas that receive the
greatest impact and these are the areas that require additional
shock absorption (beyond what the main foam layers can provide).
