The Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic
Arch Supports from Sorbothane are a great new addition to our website
and a perfect substitute for the now discontinued Sof Sole Graphite
Orthotic Arch Support. While the Rx Sorbo Ultra Orthotic Arch Supports
are a new addition to our website they are far from a new product
in the over the counter orthopedic arch support market. Sorbothane
has been making insoles and arch supports for over twenty years. Sorbothane's
products are based upon the unique composition Sorbothane’s
visco elastic polymer. The Sorbothane polymer was designed to mimic
human shock absorbing tissue, specifically the protective fat pads
found at the heel and the ball of the foot. Sorbothane is such an
effective shock absorbing material that it actually has many industrial
uses; specifically where maximum shock absorption is required.

One
such example is its use in the Space Shuttle. Sorbothane material
was used to construct a unique isolator to protect shuttle cameras
from the violent forces thrust upon them during launch. These cameras
are very important because they provide NASA with vital information
used to verify the integrity of the shuttle's heat tiles. Now while
it is clear that running and walking does not create anywhere near
the impact or shock of a shuttle launch, it does illustrate just
how effective Sorbothane gel is at absorbing shock and providing
cushioning. In fact Sorbothane is the only cushioning material that
can absorb up to 94.7% of impact shock.
